Our Story
Clayton Norred originally entered the fire protection business in 1981 when he started a small fire extinguisher service company, The Fire Station, Inc. In 1993 the name was changed to Fire-Quip Corporation to reflect the broad scope of services that were provided. Fire-Quip expanded to three locations, Monroe, Ruston and Shreveport, Louisiana and was the dominant fire equipment service company in North Louisiana.
In 1999 Fire-Quip Corporation was sold to Grinnell Fire Protection (Tyco/Johnson Controls) where Clayton worked as District General Manager. In 2001, Clayton re-entered the market with a new company; Norred Fire Systems. With the support of customers, employees and community, Norred Fire Systems grew into the name and business that it is today.
Clayton served as President of the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED) from 2010 to 2011. Trey Norred now serves as the current NAFED President, a title he earned in 2025 along with the NAFED Life Time Achievement Award he received with Clayton Norred. Clayton currently serves on the board of directors of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Fire Sprinkler Association and Guardian Service Holdings. Clayton is also a representative on the NFPA 25 fire sprinkler committee for the Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems.
